Purse stolen from market

SHOPPERS are being warned to keep a close eye on their bags after an elderly woman had her purse stolen at a town's weekly market.

The victim had her handbag attached to her mobility trolley in Cheshire Street, Market Drayton, and was looking at a stall near Wilkinson Walk at 11.15am on Wednesday when the incident happened.

Two women approached, and one reached into the woman's bag before they made off.

The victim's purse, which contained about Pounds 80 was taken.

Both woman are described as being of Asian origin, with one middle-aged and the other in her early 20s.

PC Paul Tomkins said: "Keep an eye on your bag, never leave it on a trolley or unattended even for a few seconds and be aware of who is around you."
