BRITAIN'S athletes made history here last night when three medals gave them their biggest ever haul at best men watches a European Championships.
Chris Tomlinson leapt to a bronze medal in the long jump and there was silver and bronze for the men's and women's 4x400m relay teams respectively to take the tally to 19.
Never in the 76-year history of these championships has Britain bagged so many medals.
bedat & coThe previous best was in 1990 from a team boasting British legends such as Linford Christie, Colin Jackson, Roger Black, Steve Backley and Kriss Akabusi.
Tomlinson won his first outdoor championship medal at the age of 30 with a season's best leap of 8.23metres as Germany's Christian Reif won gold with 8.47m.
Manolo blahnikNext up were the women's relay quartet of Nicola Sanders, Lee McConnell, Marilyn Okoro and Perri Shakes-Drayton, who finished third behind Russia in 3:24.32. In the final race of the night, the men's 4x400m, Conrad Williams, Michael Bingham, Rob Tobin and Martyn Rooney brought home the recordbreaking 19th medal as runners-up behind Russia.
But there was heartbreak for Lisa Dobriskey, who finished fourth in the final of the 1500m.
