Bryant's status still unclear

West Virginia coach Bob Huggins said he will determine sophomore point guard Darryl "Truck" Bryant's availability for Saturday's national semifinal against Duke after watching him practice today and Wednesday.

Bryant, who suffered a broken foot last week that caused him to miss NCAA Tournament games against Kentucky and Washington, is getting fitted for a specially designed shoe.

Breguet Watches "I don't have any idea (if he will play)," Huggins said Monday during a teleconference with reporters. "We really won't know until we Oris Watches see what he can do and see how he progresses."

The Mountaineers didn't practice yesterday, two days after defeating Kentucky, 73-66, in the East Regional final.

Junior Joe Mazzulla, Bryant's replacement, scored a career-high 17 points against Kentucky. It was his first start of the season.

Bryant's possible return would add more depth to the backcourt, returning a key player to the rotation.

"I just know that with this, there was a chance he could play," Huggins said. "For Truck's sake, and I think for the rest of our guys, we're going to explore every opportunity."

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said he's preparing his players for Bryant's return.

"Who starts or not, we have to be ready for both (Mazzulla and Bryant) of these young men to play," Krzyzewski said. "Sometimes, when a kid has been out, the team Seiko Watches becomes better. And then, he comes back, and they've gone up a notch as a team."
