JAIPUR: The time is not far when a ration card holder could purchase food items from any ration shop of his choice according to his convenience as all the rations shops in a locality would be interconnected by computers.
This was stated by the principal secretary civil supplies O P Meena during his presentation at the second day of the two-day e-Governance Leadership Meet at SMS Convention Centre on Thursday. The meet was organised for officials of the Breitling Watches state government under the national e-governance programme with the help of the National Institute of Smart Government, Hyderabad.
Meena said ideally the public distribution system should be managed by the respective gram panchayats instead of private ration dealers. The BPL list should be constantly updated deleting the ineligible and including the eligible ones to plug leakage in the system.
Revenue department officials said the computerisation of land records would be completed by 2016 and committees have been constituted NHL jerseys at all the district levels. The department is working on simplification of laws, standardisation of forms, digitisation of revenue maps and strengthening of the revenue and survey section as part of the e-governance programme.
The rural development and panchayati raj department is working on the issue of domicile certificate, caste, income and death and birth registration through kiosks under the e- governance programme, says secretary Tanmay Kumar. He said in order to monitor the attendance of employees working at the village level the biometric system would be implemented. This system could be extended to the workers engaged in MGNREGS workers for attendance and payment, he said.
Abercrombie & fitchThe urban development principal secretary G S Sandhu said once the e-governance programme was executed in the department 18 services provided by the department could be availed by the people from their homes. He said all the 184 nagar palikas and UITs are preparing an 'e-nagar mitra' programme and a pilot project is on in Bhilwara district. The programme ended with the IT minister Jitendra Singh calling for breaching the language barrier by introducing IT based services in local languages.
